Reflecting the decisions in the Government Response to the consultation on proposals to enhance the sustainability criteria for the use of biomass feedstocks under the Renewables Obligation (RO), DECC is publishing this Timber Standard to set out how the Sustainable Forest Management Criteria will apply to the use of woodfuel under the Renewable Heat Incentive, Renewables Obligation and Contracts for Difference.

The government’s woodfuel guidance sets out how to comply with the land criteria for those producing heat and electricity from woody biomass.
