Local authorities and other organisations are increasingly deploying information and communication technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) devices to collect and analyse data in the built environment. As part of the National Cyber Strategy 2022 the government wants to make sure this technology is being adopted in a secure and sustainable way.
This survey sets out details of how organisations are currently using connected places technologies and how they plan to do so in the future. It also explores the drivers behind the deployment of connected places technologies, how they are governed and managed, and trends in organisational approaches to cyber security.
This research forms part of the wider evidence base which is informing the government’s policy development on secure connected places. For more information, please see the secure connected places home page.
For further information on how to protect the cyber security of your connected place, see the secure connected places guidance collection.
This work is part of the government’s £2.6 billion National Cyber Strategy 2022 which is protecting and promoting the UK digital economy and making sure the technology we use is secure and resilient against cyber attacks.
