Details

This progress report is published by the UK rare disease policy board under its responsibilities following publication of the UK Strategy for Rare Diseases in 2013.

The strategy is an effort by all 4 health departments in the UK:

  • Department of Health and Social Care for England
  • Directorate for Healthcare Quality and Improvement at the Scottish Government
  • Health and Social Services Group at the Wales Government
  • Department of Health in Northern Ireland

The second progress report highlights achievements from across the 4 nations since the first progress report in 2016 and discusses UK-wide opportunities and challenges up to 2020.

The table of progress summarises progress against the commitments.

A glossary of rare disease terms is available on the implementation plan page.
