CMA’s work in the funerals sector

Information about the CMA’s work in the funerals sector, to help professionals working in it to comply with the Funeral Market Order.

The CMA exists to promote a fair and competitive environment, where businesses and the UK economy thrive, and consumers can be confident they are getting great choices and fair deals.

In 2020, we published a final report, marking the end of our market investigation into funeral services. In this report, we identified some concerns with the market, including around pricing and transparency. Following this, the Funerals Market Investigation Order 2021 introduced a range of legal obligations on funeral directors and crematorium operators to tackle those problems.

If you work in the funerals sector, take a look at the information and resources below and make sure you understand how to be compliant with the Order.
