REUL (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 statutory instruments
On this page you will find the complete list of statutory instruments (SIs) which will be laid under the REUL (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023.
The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act has ended the special status of retained EU law, now known from 1 January 2024 as assimilated law, in the UK statute book and enables assimilated law to be more easily amended, revoked and replaced, via legislation such as these statutory instruments.
This list has been organised by the type of SI being laid.
Draft affirmative SIs
In this section, find draft affirmative statutory instruments (SIs) (which are subject to debates in both Houses) under the Retained EU Law Act 2023.
Negative to sift SIs
Before some Retained EU Law Act SIs are formally ‘laid’ in Parliament, they have to go through a sifting process. A scrutiny committee in the House of Commons and the House of Lords will consider the suitability of the ‘negative procedure’ for these SIs.
You can find details of those SIs, including the outcome of sifts, in this section.
Negative SIs
An SI laid under this procedure becomes law on the day the minister signs it and automatically remains law unless a motion is put forward to reject it and is agreed by either House within 40 days.
You can find the details of those SIs in this section.
No procedure SIs
A small number of REUL Act SIs are not subject to any parliamentary procedure.
You can find the details of those SIs in this section.
