A causal Bayesian network approach to consumer product safety and risk assessment

Details

This independent report was produced by Queen Mary University London on behalf of the Office for Product Safety and Standards. It outlines the limitations of the approach to risk assessment undertaken for Safety Gate – previously RAPEX – the EU rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products. It proposes an improved method based on causal Bayesian networks.
