This guide gives advice on the procedure to give effect to the registration of freehold estates in commonhold land under Part 1 of the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002. It is aimed at conveyancers, surveyors, developers and members of the public and you should interpret references to ‘you’ accordingly.

  1. Section 1 has been amended to include the contact details of the commonhold officer who can help with the enquiries about the prospective application. Section 7.3 has been amended and section 7.4 removed following the revocation of rule 54 of the Land Registration Rules 2003 by the Land Registration (Amendment) Rules 2018 which came into force on 6 April 2018. It is no longer possible to secure priority for an application by way of an outline application.
