This prison service instruction (PSI) explains how prisons should handle requests from prisoners to get married or enter into a civil partnership. The guidance covers:
- legal requirements and responsibilities
- evaluating requests
- security considerations, including deciding whether to allow the ceremony to take place outside of prison
- the ceremony and registration, including religious and faith-based ceremonies
