In 2018, Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) commissioned RSM UK Consulting LLP (RSM) to evaluate some of its short-term pilot interventions over the lifecycle of the current National Cyber Security Programme to fund apprenticeship, retraining and post-graduate studies. These pilots looked to support candidates in taking steps towards a cyber career. The lessons learnt and recommendations informed future policy development.

  • Evaluation of the Cyber Security Postgraduate Bursaries Scheme: DCMS appointed RSM UK Consulting LLP (RSM) in 2018 to evaluate its cyber security postgraduate Bursaries Scheme.

  • Evaluation of the Cyber Skills Immediate Impact Fund Pilot: DCMS appointed RSM in 2018 to evaluate its Cyber Skills Immediate Impact Fund.

  • Evaluation of Cyber Critical National Infrastructure Apprenticeships Programme and other interventions in this space: DCMS appointed RSM in 2018 to evaluate its Cyber Critical National Infrastructure Apprenticeships Programme and other interventions in this space.

Both programmes are part of DCMS and NCSC’s work in the National Cyber Security Strategy 2016-2021 to promote the development of cyber security skills in the UK.

These reports were published alongside evaluations of two other major cyber security skills programmes, Cyber Discovery and CyberFirst, which were finalised in 2021.
