This prison service order (PSO) includes information for prison staff on a number of legal issues raised by or involving prisoners.
It covers:
- private prosecutions by prisoners
- applications by prisoners to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority
- prisoners with outstanding fines
- prisoners or prison staff appearing as witnesses in court
It also explains the role of the Official Solicitor in prisoner legal issues.
This is a current PSO. It came into effect on 27 October 2003.
