Details

This prison service order (PSO) includes information for prison staff on a number of legal issues raised by or involving prisoners.

It covers:

  • private prosecutions by prisoners
  • applications by prisoners to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority
  • prisoners with outstanding fines
  • prisoners or prison staff appearing as witnesses in court

It also explains the role of the Official Solicitor in prisoner legal issues.

This is a current PSO. It came into effect on 27 October 2003.
