CSLM7045 - Complaints: student loan complaints: complaints - deductions after loan is repaid

When the borrower nears the end of their loan, SLC will contact them to advise of setting up a Direct Debit to pay the remaining balance.

This means the employer will stop making deductions through PAYE and should stop them accidentally take more than they owe.

SLC can only make contact if the borrowers details are up to date. The borrower can check their details in their online account.

The Student Loans Company must decide when to authorise the issue of a Stop Notice to the employer based on the borrower's previous repayment history. Inevitably the timing of the issue of a Stop Notice is an estimate, and an underpayment or overpayment may still arise on the borrower's account.

The borrower can request a refund for any overpaid student and or postgraduate loan deductions in their online account.
