East Marine Plan Issues with Supporting Evidence Engagement Period
The second stage of Marine Plan replacement, Issues with Supporting Evidence, has begun in the east marine plan areas.

The Marine Planning Team at the Marine Management Organisation are hosting in-person Issues with Supporting Evidence events to get essential perspectives from stakeholders in the east marine plan areas.
There are three opportunities for stakeholders to input to the Issues with Supporting Evidence stage of the marine planning process:
Tuesday 5th of November, Norwich

It is important that stakeholders attend these events as it is an opportunity for you to give your perspective on the issues in the east marine plan areas, along with supporting evidence. Evidence is any type of data, information or knowledge that provides backing for the issues that stakeholders present. The events will also provide a valuable opportunity for attendees to meet the Marine Planners and to network with other stakeholders in the East of England.
The issues and evidence collated at these events will be vital in shaping the replacement of the East Marine Plans. The new policies in these plans will affect all stakeholders operating in the east marine plan areas.
Stakeholders can also provide their views on the issues in the east marine plan areas via Citizen Space. The link will be live until 10/01/25.
England’s East Marine Plans are being replaced because after the Plans’ second three-year report (2020) it was decided that the policies are no longer fit for purpose due to wider legislative and policy changes since the adoption of the plans in 2014.
The first stage of plan replacement was the East Marine Plan Statement of Public Participation, which was published in April 2024.
The east marine plan area consists of the east inshore and the east offshore marine plan areas. The east inshore marine plan area stretches from mean high water springs to 12 nautical miles offshore along the coastline between Flamborough Head and Felixstowe. The east offshore marine plan area extends from the outer boundary of the east inshore area to England’s borders with the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

The Marine Planning Team recommend that stakeholders watch the Marine Planning 101 webinar before attending the Issues with Supporting Evidence event. It provides an overview of the process of Marine Planning and the legislation behind it.
